Environment
At City Forests we are conscious that there are many resources and values within our estate other than the plantation forests themselves. For this reason we have processes in place to manage the extensive range of ecosystem services our forests provide, and to protect their value.
As part of our commitment to sound environmental practice, and to the principles of Forest Stewardship Council® certification, we monitor the condition of the environment in which we operate, and the impact of operations in our forests where there may be a potential threat to important environmental values. These include:
- Carbon capture and storage
- Water quality
- Soil protection
- Native forest and wetland reserves
- High Conservation Value areas
- Wildlife, including Rare, Threatened or Endangered species
- Heritage and archeological sites
City Forests’ FSC® certification ensures that the forest products produced are from responsibly harvested and verified sources.
